Crystal Dynamics’ upcoming take on Marvel’s Avengers has been met with tepid expectations to say the least due to some less than stellar character designs and what looks like clunky and derivative gameplay. However, we’d be lying if we didn’t say we’re immensely excited about the possibility of it being good. It’s been a hot minute since we’ve had a good superhero action game and heck of a lot longer since we got one starring all of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. In this post Endgame world, nothing could be better to a Marvel fan than being able to fly around in an Iron-Man Suit, Stomp some bad guys as the Hulk or pull off some martial arts wizardry as Black Widow. Here’s hoping that Crystal D, Eidos Montreal and Square Enix do whatever it takes to give us a team up we won’t soon forget.

It’s been almost a decade since Moon Studios’ Ori and the Blind Forest took over our hearts and minds with its gorgeous art style, brilliant Metroidvania gameplay and its simple but powerfully evocative storytelling. It’s sequel, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, looks to recapture that same magic while adding in some unique pixie dust of its own by way of a revamped and more involved combat system and a much more epic sense of scale in terms of levels and boss creatures.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps will be double jumping, burrowing and air bashing onto XB1 and PC next month!

The long awaited sequel to the Naughty Dog masterpiece Last of Us finally arrives right at the tail end of the PS4’s console cycle. Set 5 years, after the first game, in Last of Us II you play as an older Ellie as she deals with the events of the previous game, the death of her partner Dina at the hands of a group of vicious marauders, and a returning Joel. All this while try to survive and develop a society in the midst of the apocalypse brought about by a global pandemic.
With the first game being such a brilliant exercise in videogame storytelling, I’m especially anxious to see what evocative new ways Last of Us 2 will play with our hearts.

CD Projekt Red’s hotly anticipated take on futuristic dystopia, Cyberpunk 2077 is well poised to be one of the candidates for 2020’s game of the year. The developer of the excellent The Witcher franchise has channeled their penchant for stellar world-building and evocative storytelling towards the grim and gritty futuristic world of New Los Angeles. We don’t need Keanu to tell us that this is definitely going to be breathtaking.
