Garena servers set to have Riot API
Posted by Ram Ronquillo February 19, 2018

Riot Games has recently announced that they will be releasing their Application Programming Interface (API) to Garena servers. Currently, they’re trying out the API alongside OP.GG and Garena which will offer stats for Indonesia, Singapore/Malaysia, Taiwan/Hong Kong/Macau, Vietnam, and of course, the Philippines.

The API will go through a beta phase with OP.GG before being available to all developers. In the beta phase limited information will be available, namely: League and tier information, Summoner Ranking, and, Summoner name and level.

It is the API that feeds websites like OP.GG on the information from the game that is asked.

Upon leaving the beta phase various information will be available like match history, champion history, champion stats, and the likes. This will offer players from the region information about other players in the region, allowing teams in the region to scout each other in preparation for the Garena Premier League.

The API has been one of the features that have been lacking in the region. Especially for those that want to see what’s popular in the different regions or to see what pros are building in their Ranked games. The addition of the API will allow for more comprehensive analysis on the pros and the overall status of the servers.

What wasn’t mentioned in the announcement was how long the beta would last and when the full API would be available for other developers.

As of writing this, the op.gg for Garena is not yet live and they have not yet mentioned when the site will be available.
