A New Legend Is Coming To Apex Legends Season 3: Meltdown
Posted by Martin Patino on September 21, 2019

Respawn Entertainment has officially unveiled the first few details of the upcoming season 3 of Apex Legends. The new season, which is set to begin on October 1, will bring with it a flurry of new additions and changes to the game. We’ve listed five new things that are coming with season 3, including a new Legend, a new weapon, and more.

New Legend

Just like season 2, the third season of Apex Legends will introduce a new character. This time, that new Legend is named Crypto. While no information on his skills or abilities have been announced yet, Respawn has described him as “cool, calm, collected Crypto deploys specialized surveillance drones to stay in the fight and out of the spotlight.” To go along with the announcement, an animated cinematic was released giving us a glimpse of Crypto’s background.

New Weapon

The Charge Rifle from Titanfall will be making its way to season 3 of Apex Legends. As one of the most powerful anti-Titan weapons, it’s likely that the new weapon will only be available from a supply drop, much like the Kraber or Mastiff. We’ll have to wait and see if the Respawn changes the way the Charge Rifle works to make it fit better into Apex Legends.

New Battle Pass

The launch of a new season means the release of a new Battle Pass. For season 3, the new Battle Pass is set to be packed with a ton of new items. Respawn has said that the new Battle Pass will include over 100 exclusive items including Legendary skins, Apex Packs, and more.

Assists

Your contributions to the team will now be more visible as assists and will now be counted to the kill count score in Ranked. For the unfamiliar, assists are counted when damage is done to a player within 5 seconds before they’re knocked down. The combined kill & assist score will still be capped at 5 per match in season 3.

Penalties

Those who like to leave games early won’t be able to do so as easily anymore in season 3, unless they’re fine with not being able to play for awhile. Respawn is once again activating leaver penalties in Ranked so those who abandon games before it’s over for them will be barred from queuing for matches for an escalating amount of time based on how many times they’ve abandoned games.

Apex Legends season 3 will begin on October 1, 2019, and with the launch so close we should be hearing more information on the new season soon.
