ASUS Announces Refreshed ROG Strix Scar/Hero III and Zephyrus S Gaming Laptops
Posted by Martin Patino April 24, 2019

ASUS has officially announced refreshed models of its popular ROG Zephyrus S (GX531/GX701) and ROG Strix Scar/Hero III (G531/G731) gaming laptops.

ROG Strix Scar/Hero III (G531/G731)

The new Strix Scar/Hero III models feature an all-new chassis that was designed in collaboration with the BMW Designworks group. The new design, which comes in Gunmetal Grey or Midnight Black, features a wrap-around light bar and tenkeyless RGB backlit keyboard.

ASUS is also introducing a new feature with the new models called the Keystone, which is an NFC-based storage device that is capable of several functions such as storing gaming profiles or unlocking encrypted data on a shadow drive.

The new Strix Scar/Hero III models will be equipped with 9th generation Intel Core processors and GTX Turing GPUs. It’s also possible they could also be configured with RTX GPUs. The 15-inch G531 will be available with a 240Hz/3ms display while the 17-inch G731 variants may come with a 144hz/3ms screen.

ROG Zephyrus S (GX531/GX701)

While the ROG Strix Scar/Hero III received an all-new design and updated internals, the new Zephyrus S (GX531/GX701) keeps the changes internal. Both models will now feature 9th generation Intel Core processors as well as NVIDIA GTX Turing GPUs.

The bigger update though is that the GX531 will now be available with a 240Hz/3ms display panel option while the GX701 will get a 144Hz/3ms DisplayHDR 400 option.

Pricing and Availability

No information on pricing, available, and exact SKUs/specifications for the all the new Zephyrus S or Strix Scar/Hero III laptops have been announced so far but we’ll probably hear more on them in the coming weeks.
