Five Must-Play PC Games from 2019
Posted by Martin Patino December 30, 2019

2019 was a great year for video games, with a plethora of new titles, long-awaited sequels, excellently-done remakes or remasters, and more. There was almost never a shortage of games to play on every platform, with many of them offering experiences that people will remember for years to come. We take a look back at some of the most notable games that came out this year for the PC that we think you should definitely check out, if you already haven’t.

P.S. Many of the games on this list are also available on other platforms so if you don’t have a PC but have a PS4 or Xbox One, then you can check these games out there as well.

Here are five must-play games on the PC from 2019:

Resident Evil 2

The remake of the classic second-entry into the Resident Evil franchise took the world by surprise. The changes and updates to the title’s gameplay, presentation, and visuals while staying faithful to many aspects of the original made it feel like a brand-new experience that still showcased how good the original was. Despite being a remake, Resident Evil 2 was undeniably one of the best games to come out in 2019.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, the latest game from famed Dark Souls developer FromSoftware, is a slight divergence from the Souls-type games the developer is known for. The new IP, which took some inspiration from classic games like Tenchu, gave a bit more focus on stealth and exploration while retaining the significance of combat and boss battles. Sekiro was both critically and financially acclaimed and considered by many as the best game of the year.

The latest game from Max Payne and Alan Wake developer Remedy Entertainment was one of the sleeper hits of 2019. The third-person action adventure game puts players in the shoes of new Federal Bureau of Control Director Jesse Faden as she defends the Oldest House, the bureau’s paranormal New York headquarters, against invading supernatural beings called the Hiss using her own set of supernatural powers and weapons.

Disco Elysium

Disco Elysium is a unique RPG from novelist Robert Kurvitz-led indie developer ZA/UM. Inspired by classic RPGs such as Planescape: Torment, features an open-world setting and gameplay mechanics that heavily consists of dialogue. The game has been praised for its excellent storytelling and writing as well as its freedom and customization. It also won several awards at the recently held Game Awards 2019.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is the latest game from Titanfall and Apex Legends developer Respawn Entertainment. It’s an action-adventure game with gameplay inspired by titles like Dark Souls and features “metroidvania” elements in its exploration and progression. It’s set in between Revenge of the Sith and a New Hope where players take on the role Jedi padawan Cal Kestis as he tries to survive the Jedi purge while attempting to restore the Jedi Order.
