I Have No Idea What The Fast and the Furious Game is But I am Going to Play It
Posted by Raphael Leynes August 05, 2020

I really like Fast and Furious. In fact, earlier this month I wrote a 1000 word article on the Fast and Furious cartoon on Netflix because I unironically thought it was good.  I just absolutely adore the franchise but not as seminal, enlightened pieces of cinema, but for what they really are—primo junk food. They’re all about stuff that just makes you feel pumped: insane action, ridiculous stunts, and hilariously spectacular fight scenes—but most of all, they’re about family.

Fast and Furious is like Frito Lays smothered in gravy, pork rinds and large, hulking biceps, meant to be enjoyed between automobiles jumping across buildings. It is the epitome of turn-your-brain-off fun.

How is Han aliv… DON’T WORRY ABOUT IT

It is for this very same reason that when I first heard that there was going to be a Fast and Furious Video Game, I immediately knew that I was going to buy and play the heck out of it. It doesn’t matter that I don’t really know anything substantial about it, I will control Dominic Toretto and his motley band of super criminal/spy agents, and I will hurtle through the desert fighting tanks. This will happen.

When I say I don’t know anything about the game, it’s not from a lack of trying either. I tried my best to find out more about it. Aside from these two trailersone of which is almost a year old—the only other article that popped up is from Wikipedia.

And this is literally everything in it:

I don’t know if it’s open-world or level-based. I don’t know if the story is going to tie-in at all to Fast 9. I don’t know how the tagging system works. I don’t know how many characters there are or if you can pick and choose your party. I don’t know if you can customize your loadout or your ride. I don’t know why Toretto is chasing this space rocket that is flying adjacent to the ground.

I don’t know and I don’t care.

All I know is that it looks like a fusion of Twisted Metal and Split/Second wrapped up in Fast and Furious and that’s good enough for me. Come August 7, Daddy’s gonna go to work.
