Rainbow is Magic, the April Fool’s limited event makes its crazy and colorful way back to Rainbow Six: Siege after two long years! The event turns the grim, tactical military atmosphere of R6 and takes the Ubisoft shooter to the land of plushies, ponies, and unicorns. The event also includes special cosmetic items such as cutesy rainbow-flavored skins and charms available in Rainbow is Magic Packs. The event will be available from now until April 6, 2021.
Rainbow is Magic first came to Rainbow Six: Siege in April 2019 during Operation Burnt Horizon. The whimsical event reimagined the world of the usually serious tactical shooter, into a bright pastel-colored playground. It introduced a variation of the hostage game mode where operators, in this case, toy soldiers, battled to rescue or protect the VIP (Very Important Plushie) Mr. Bear. The entire game mode took place inside a massive child bedroom with a toy-based redesign of the map Plane (Air Cute One) as its battleground.
On March 30, 2021, Rainbow is once again magic. Mr. Bear is once more in need of rescuing, Air Cute One is back in the playroom and four big burly men from the R6 roster have put their adorable tactical outfits back on.
The Rainbow is Magic game mode is basically a reimagining of the Hostage game mode taking place in Plane with a limited operator pool to choose from: Ash, Thermite, Thatcher, Montagne, Blackbeard, Sledge, Hibana, and Fuze for Attack and Frost, Kapkan, Tachanka, Smoke, Bandit, Castle for Defense.
Despite that, the different and fun little changes to the audio and visual effects as well as some fun interactive additions will definitely put a smile on anyone’s face. Big changes such as the announcer being completely changed to a joyful narrator lady that baby talks about meanies, playtime and R6 memes into your ear to small ones like drones have cat faces on them or the comical whistle that plays when a player is eliminated, is enough to melt the hearts of even the most curmudgeonly players.

Four of Team Rainbow’s beefy boys, Blackbeard, Montagne, Smoke, and Lord Tachanka‘s cute and whimsical gear will be available as bundles in the store payable in renown or as drops from the Rainbow is Magic Alpha Packs.

The Rainbow is Magic limited-time Alpha Packs contain the original 17 cosmetics from Headgear, Uniforms, Weapon Skins, and Charms as well as 4 additional weapon skins upping the grand total to 21 possible fun and fantastical rewards. Additionally, Ubisoft guarantees that no duplicates will be awarded in these alpha packs so it’s much easier to bring home your desired cosmetic.
All players will be awarded a free Rainbow is Magic Alpha Pack when logging in for the first time during the event. Additional Rainbow is Magic packs can be obtained by completing Ubisoft Connect challenges or by purchase. Alpha Packs may be purchased with 12500 Renown and/or 300 R6 Credits.
Ubisoft has clarified that Rainbow is Magic isn’t the big event for the current season stated in the Year 6 road map and is more like a little April Fool’s treat for the player base. Don’t miss your chance to taste this rainbow!
