Showtime is making a Halo TV series

Legendary Xbox franchise is finally getting a live-action TV adaptation. The upcoming tv series will begin production in early 2019. Creators behind popular movies like Awake and Rise of the Planet of the Apes will produce the tv show.

The current working title is Halo, and will be based on the Xbox video game franchise. Ruper Wyatt will serve as executive producer and will direct numerous episodes while Kyle Killen will serve as writer and executive producer. The tv series will be produced by Showtime, in collaboration with Microsoft and 343 industries, as well as Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television.

“Halo┬áis our most ambitious series ever, and we expect audiences who have been anticipating it for years to be thoroughly rewarded,” said showtime President David Nevins.

“In the history of television, there simply has never been enough great science fiction. Kyle Killen’s scripts are thrilling, expansive and provocative, Rupert Wyatt is a wonderful, world-building director, and their vision of Halo will enthrall fans of the game while also drawing the uninitiated into a world of complex characters that populate this unique universe.”

While no official release date has been revealed, Showtime has officially ordered a 10-episode season. Each episode of the sci-fi epic will reportedly be one hour long.
