Just when you thought the Darkmoon Faire couldn’t get any more festive, the Feast of Winter Veil has come to bring some holiday cheer to the Tavern. To celebrate the holidays, the Hearthstone team at Blizzard has brought us an early present: a huge patch update that comes with new Solo Adventures, new Tavern Brawls, and some game-changing additions to Hearthstone’s Battlegrounds game mode.
Here are some of the upcoming additions to the game with the release of the 19.2 patch.
Yogg-Saron isn’t the only Old God in Battlegrounds anymore, as Y’Shaarj, C’Thun, N’Zoth have made their epic entrance in the Battlegrounds hero pool just last December 16. With their unique Hero Powers to spice up your strategies, the Old Gods are bound to introduce a new meta to Battlegrounds.
Of course, it’s not a Battlegrounds update without some new minions, and the 19.2 patch is bringing in 10 new minions to even out the power imbalances between tribes in the early, mid, and late game. These new minions include neutral minions whose mechanics revolve around the Taunt keyword, and it’ll be interesting to see how they’ll affect the meta given how situational the Taunt effect is in Battlegrounds.
And finally, Darkmoon Faire is bringing its attractions and their prizes to Battlegrounds in the form of Spells. Darkmoon Prizes are a limited-time mechanic that’ll give all players unique spells every four turns to make more complex strategies possible. These spells can help give you those crucial Discovers, stat buffs, and Tavern discounts. You can view the full list of Darkmoon Prizes here.
As you might have noticed, we haven’t gotten a Solo Adventure for the Darkmoon Faire expansion yet, but with the 19.2 Patch, we’ll be getting both Garrosh’s and Uther’s chapters in Hearthstone’s Book of Heroes. While the stories of how Garrosh rose up the ranks in the Horde, and Uther came to be a Paladin of the Silver Hand, it’s exciting to see how Hearthstone will be putting its own spin on these heroes’ origins.
Garrosh’s chapter in the Book of Heroes will be available to play for free from December 17 onwards, while Uther’s chapter will be available from January 6 onwards. Don’t miss out on the chance to get some Warrior and Paladin packs by playing through these Solo Adventures!
With the Feast of Winter Veil just around the corner, we’ll also be getting some holiday-themed Tavern Brawls on December 17 and 24. The first of the two will be the Gift Exchange Tavern Brawl which will have a special reward in the form of the Winter Veil Treat card back. The Tavern Brawl on the 24th will be the Wacky Waxy Winter Veil Brawl, which will reward players with the usual 1 Classic Pack.
As part of its Winter Veil celebration, Hearthstone will be giving 500 gold and 5 Darkmoon Faire packs to players for free, just for logging in from December 16 to January 18. For more details on the new Battlegrounds minions, as well as some balance changes made to Standard Mode, you can check out the full patch notes for 19.2 here.
Happy Feast of Winter Veil!
