Here Are the Biggest Announcements from PlayStation’s State of Play Stream
Posted by Martin Patino September 27, 2019

PlayStation’s latest State of Play livestream was pretty short but definitely sweet, with a slew of big announcements that definitely excited a whole lot of people. Some of the announcements were surprising and unexpected while others were much-awaited and filled with a lot of hype. We’ve listed the biggest announcements from the stream to help you catch up with all the things you can look forward to from PlayStation.

Humanity Officially Announced

The first of the announcements PlayStation made during the livestream is the announcement of Humanity. Made by Enhance Games and Tha LTD, the new title feels like a puzzle game akin to the classic Lemmings series from the early ‘90s. It’s unclear just how the gameplay of Humanity will work but the trailer easily got us interested in seeing more of this new title. Humanity is set for release on the PS4 sometime in 2020.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Story Trailer Released

The reboot of the Modern Warfare franchise came as a surprise for long-time fans of the series so, as expected, many questions arose about how much of the classic story they’d be changing or removing. Luckily, the answers to a lot of those questions were confirmed as the story trailer for the upcoming reboot was released during the stream, which revealed the popular Captain John Price as one of the game’s main protagonists. The game is set for release on October 25, 2019.

Sid Meier’s Civilization VI Is Coming to PS4

Sid Meier’s Civilization franchise has always been known as a PC-only title, although some of its entries made their way to mobile phones, so it was a surprise that the game ended up on the Switch last year. But it looks like the decision to port the game to consoles was a good one as it was announced during the State of Play stream that the sixth entry in the long-running turn-based strategy game was announced for release on the PS4 on November 22, 2019.

Death Stranding PS4 Pro Bundle

There’s only a little over a month left until the release of Death Stranding and after the recent announcement of the game’s several editions, it was revealed during the State of Play stream that a limited edition Death Stranding PS4 Pro Bundle would also be released when the game comes out on November 8, 2019. The bundle comes with a predominantly white PS4 Pro console with black handprints as well as a yellow translucent controller akin to the baby pod found in the game.

The Last of Us 2 Story Trailer and Release Date

Undoubtedly the biggest and most-awaited announcement of the State of Play stream is the release date of the highly-anticipated The Last of Us 2. Along with the release date, which is set on February 21, 2020, a story trailer was also released giving us a very good glimpse of what could be the game’s central plot as well as revealing the return of Joel. Take the story trailer with a grain of salt though as it could very well be a play at misdirection to give the actual story more surprise and impact.

Other announcements during the State of Play stream included the unveiling of Wattam from Fonemena set for a December 2019 release, a new title from Piccolo Games named Arise: A Simple Story, the release of L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files, the release of the MediEvil demo, the announcement of a new game from the makers of Oxenfree called Afterparty for release on October 29, 2019, and the PS+ Plus free games lineup for October that includes MLB: The Show 19 and The Last of Us Remastered.
