Netflix Drops Bloody Trailer For Trese Anime Adaptation
Posted by Yuri Mangahas May 22, 2021

Following several leaks across the internet, Netflix has finally unveiled the official trailer for the animated adaptation of the long-running Filipino graphic novel series Trese

Set in a fictional iteration of Manila where the mythical creatures of Filipino folklore live in hiding amongst humans, Alexandra Trese finds herself going head to head with supernatural enemies from the criminal underworld. Armed with her wits, combat skills, and her magical kris Sinag, Trese seeks to wage war against the creatures that disrupt the balance of the natural realm.

Judging by the trailer, the first season will seemingly adapt the first three books of the Trese series: Murder at Balete Drive, Unreported Murders, and Mass Murders. The show will also include excerpts from the short story Thirteen Stations

American actress and Model Shay Mitchell will portray Alex in the international version, while actress Liza Soberano will voice the titular heroine for the series’ Filipino dub. Joining Shay are actors Darren Criss, Dante Basco, Steve Blum, Lou Diamond Phillips, Matt Yang King, Jon Jon Briones, Nicole Sherzinger, Eric Bauza, and Manny Jacinto.

Produced by BASE Entertainment, Trese is directed by Castlevania helmer Jay Oliva and written by Tanya Yuson, Zig Marasigan, and Mihk Vergara. UDD  (formerly Up Dharma Down)  also wrote and performed an original song titled “Paagi” for the show.
