It’s the moment you’ve been waiting for. (Not exactly, but a glimpse of it!). First things first, when will Cyberpunk 2077 be released? Mark your calendars for December 10th, 2020; the open-world, action-packed game will be available to play on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Stadia. The release was previously set for November 19, but delayed for further optimization from CD PROJEKT RED.
We know, we know. The agony is real because it’s been delayed thrice, but the anticipation of the game is more exciting than ever now that we’re seeing all the effort put into it.
It will also be playable on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. No need to fret if you’re not planning to buy these next-gen consoles, though. Though you will have to wait a little longer, a free upgrade to Cyberpunk 2077 will become available for owners of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, too.
CD PROJEKT RED recently released new videos for Cyberpunk 2077, including a new trailer! Johnny Silverhand, the legendary lead singer of Samurai (played by Keanu Reeves) takes center stage (watch him talk about it here). Take a look at the slick gameplay and behind-the-scenes footage on the latest episode of Night City Wire.
The show started with the reveal of an action-packed trailer focusing on Johnny Silverhand and the unique connection he shares with the game’s protagonist, V. This was followed up by a behind-the-scenes video with Keanu Reeves talking about his transformation into Night City’s iconic rebel rockerboy. The voice and motion capture seems nothing new to Keanu Reeves—remember that iconic scene with the bent-over, bullet-dodging Neo in The Matrix?
But this project seems even more ambitious than Witcher 3. Part of why is because it goes beyond ordinary character personalization. It makes Johnny Silverhand our first-person POV seamlessly while pinning down the renowned actor’s mannerisms. There are several versions of his personality, too, depending on the choices you make. There’s angry Johnny, rebellious Johnny, and charming Johnny… Additionally, imagine how awesome it is to feel this close to Keanu Reeves as we discover who we are in the steampunk, angst-filled open world called Dark City.
They say the audio is just as important as the visuals of the game – it gives it the right “color”. From eerie violins to catchy drum beats, the OST sounds promising, especially with popular artists like GRIMES and Gazelle Twin contributing their sound to the game. They collaborated together with creators Marcin Przybyłowicz (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt), P.T. Adamczyk (GWENT: The Witcher Card Game, Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales), and Paul Leonard-Morgan (Dredd, Limitless, Battlefield: Hardline)—check out the synth waves on tracks like NCPD Crawl and Chrome Shamans!
Get into the hype with the Cyberpunk 2077 EP (6 tracks for a total of 22 minutes) available now on a selection of digital music streaming and distribution platforms.
Setting a new bar for next-gen level graphics, Cyberpunk 2077 also features JALI, an amazing innovative technological solution that powers facial expressions and lip movement based on audio files. Fun fact: JALI is immersively realistic across 11 fully localized languages.
Gunslinging rock stars, digitized souls, heavy and badass weaponry. Neon green lights, intersecting highways with flying cars, and holographic projections. There’s no doubt about it—Cyberpunk looks like the stuff of dystopian dreams for fans of The Matrix and Blade Runner. We love the stylish and sleek elements imbibed with a lot of urban angst. It seems like Cyberpunk 2077 is the future, and Dark City aside, it looks really bright.
While it can be frustrating to hear about the delay, making sure a game is perfect certainly takes time, and we’re excited to get our hands on this absurdly cool game.
